Dr. Dane Uhl, DMD
Owner
Dr. Dane Uhl grew up and currently lives in New Palestine, Indiana. He completed his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology at Ball State University, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2006. He then attended Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2010.
Following dental school, Dr. Uhl was accepted into a highly competitive post-graduate program at the Indianapolis Veteran’s Hospital. As a dental resident, Dr. Uhl received advanced training and experience in a wide scope of dental procedures, including working on many patients with significant medical needs.
Dr. Uhl began working at German Church Road Family Dentistry late in 2012 and officially bought the practice in 2014. He and the entire staff at GCR Family Dentistry have a great professional relationship, and together, they enjoy working with their patients. It is their utmost goal to make their patients comfortable during their visits, and they strive to make patients feel like family.
Dr. Uhl is a member of the American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, and the Indianapolis District Dental Society. Keeping up-to-date with the latest advancements in dentistry is extremely important to Dr. Uhl and his team. This is accomplished through numerous continuing education courses and study clubs that Dr. Uhl attends on a regular basis.
In his free time, Dr. Uhl enjoys spending quality time with his family. He and his wife, Shelly, have three children who keep them very busy with extracurricular activities. Dr. Uhl enjoys watching sports, especially the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. He enjoys playing golf and tennis and traveling with his family.
Shelly
Front Desk
Shelly works at our front desk, making sure that all our patients are comfortable and all their needs are met. She has been part of our team since March of 2014, when she and Dr. Uhl purchased the practice. A graduate of Ball State University, Shelly loves taking the time to get to know each of our patients individually, putting them at ease, and making every visit enjoyable.
Shelly grew up in New Palestine and values the free time she spends with Dr. Uhl and their three very active children. She loves outdoor activities, movies, traveling and attending Colts, Pacers, and Dragons games.
Diane
Office Manager
Our Office Manager, Diane, is another veteran team member who’s been with our practice for an amazing 40+ years. She attended Walker Career Center and was recognized as the Outstanding Student for Indianapolis.
Diane grew up in Indianapolis and likes to spend time getting to know our patients and helping them feel like part of our family. She and her husband have had a band for 25 years, and you’ll find them spending their free time making beautiful music together! She also loves spending time with her precious grandchildren.
Josie
Dental Hygienist
Josie is a long-term member of our team, working as a dental hygienist for over 41 years. She attended the Indiana University of South Bend Dental Hygiene program and served as the President of the Student Dental Hygiene Association. She currently holds a trustee position on the Indiana Dental Hygiene Association Board of Directors, with the goal of improving access to dental hygiene and to protect the profession in Indiana.
As a native of Indianapolis, Josie loves developing relationships with her patients in order to help them achieve excellence in oral health. She has been married to her husband, John, for over 37 years. They both enjoy traveling the world and spending time their family and four grandsons.

Dental Hygienist
Jo is a native of Dayton and graduated from Sinclair Community College. She has been working as our Dental Hygienist for a total of 12 years. Jo enjoys meeting new people and helping to educate them about the benefits of great oral health.
Jo and her husband of 30 years are the proud parents of two accomplished children, Betsy and Nate, and she enjoys spending her spare time gardening and traveling with her husband.
Angie
Expanded Dental Assistant
Angie is our Expanded Dental Assistant and received her training at Walker Career Center. She has been with us for over 20 years and excels at listening to our patients’ needs and putting them at ease with her friendly approach. An Indianapolis native, Angie’s favorite free-time activity is doing just about anything with her kids.
Taylor
Dental Assistant
Taylor is one of our fabulous Expanded Functions Dental Assistants. She received her Associate's degree at Ivy Tech (Columbus, IN). Taylor first started out as a patient, but was quickly chosen to intern with us while working on her degree in 2020. She fit in great with the staff and patients, so she was hired as a full-time assistant in 2021. Taylor resides in Brown County, and enjoys being in nature and doing anything "artsy".
Cheri
Front Desk
After thirty-three years of teaching Middle School sixth graders, Cheri joined our front office team in 2015. She enjoys interacting with patients and especially loves holding babies that come into the office. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, taking long walks with her grand-dog Finn, and attending her six grandchildren's sporting events and artsy activities. Family is the main focus in her life.
Vonda
Front Desk
Vonda is one of our front office administrators. Prior to moving up front, Vonda was an expanded duties dental assistant for over 25 years. She is a native of New Palestine, and received her training at Walker Career Center.
The thing that Vonda enjoys most about her job is getting to know our patients so she can help provide them with the care that fits their unique needs. In her spare time, Vonda enjoys boating and spending time with her husband and daughter.
Going to the dentist has always been an anxiety of mine. After not going to one for
many years and hearing great things about German Church Road Family Dentistry, I
realized it was time to get my whole family in for cleanings. I had made appointments
for my kids to go first so I could check out the office and staff. From the time you walk
in the door, the cleanliness of the office and friendliness of the staff really stands out!
Dr Uhl is wonderful with kids so my children took right to him. The dental hygienist was
also excellent with my kids and talked them right through everything! They even picked
out a surprise at the very end!! Needless to say, my husband and I were back shortly
after to get our teeth cleaned and some overdue cavities filled. Dr Uhl and staff went
out of their way to make sure my dental experience was less than stressful!! Looking
forward to my next cleaning at German Church Family Dentistry!
